Simplify Church

We stick to what the Bible commands us to do. Love God. Love Others.

Our Story

Helping people follow Jesus

Hillside Discipleship Church is an independent, non-denominational, disciple-making church.  We take seriously the command of Christ to "make disciples" and therefore put a large emphasis on life-2-life study and application of the Bible.  We recognize that through history, Christians have grown frustrated with much of the divisiveness among Christian denominations. We choose to identify ourselves as "Christians Only" and are therefore not "affiliated" with any denomination.  We seek to use the Bible as the source for our lives and ministry.  "Where the Bible speaks, we speak and where the Bible is silent, we are silent."  This leaves room for the Unity that our Savior prayed for in John 17:21 and the freedom of believers in Christ to at times "agree to disagree".  There are some Biblical Truths that we believe are foundational and we also recognize there are many other beliefs that not everyone agrees on.  In light of that, Hillside Discipleship Church uses "in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty and in all things love" as a guideline.  Below is a summary of the "essential" doctrines that we strive to have Unity on.

Our Vision

Following Jesus takes action

Our Vision Hillside is an Intentional Disciple Making Congregation.  Discipleship doesn’t happen just by showing up.  It is a choice, it is a way of life. At this time in the life of our church we are focused on three key things:  Spiritual Growth: We all need a next step to being like Jesus. Simplify Church: We stick to what the Bible commands us to do. Love God. Love Others. Serve Others: We care for each other and those we want to reach with the Gospel.

Humbly leading people to love Christ, learn His ways, and live on mission.

our mission

Simple Process to following Jesus

Love

We need to admit that we are a sinner, by believing that God loved us by sending His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross and rise again. We accept this gift by asking God to save us and then learning and living His ways. After making this choice,  let others know publicly by being Baptized.

Learn

We get what we plan for. Anything important in our lives we create a plan for. A spiritual growth plan does not need to be complicated. It doesn't need to be long. It just needs to get you to the next step to being like Jesus.

Live

Join a circle or Bible study. We need people in our life who will help us grow, show us where we need to grow, and will cheer us on when we do!

Our Beliefs

We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, (without error) the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (II Tim. 3:16-17, Heb. 4:12)

We believe that there is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1, II Cor. 13:14, Matt. 28:19)

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, Jesus Christ arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High as our High Priest and Advocate. (Luke 1:28-35, Col. 1:13-20, 1 Cor. 15:1-4)

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin. By nature and choice we all have fallen short of His standard of perfection. Therefore, we are all in need of salvation.(Gen. 1:26, Gen. 3:6, Rom. 3:23, Rom. 5:12)

We believe that the Grace given by the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who receive Christ in faith.(Eph.2:8-9) We are therefore saved by Grace through Faith in Christ alone. (Titus 3:3-7) We believe that the Biblical teaching is an immediate response to that faith of Repentance and Biblical Baptism by Immersion. (Acts 2:38) This will result in a life lived in total submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Luke 9:23) and by keeping in step with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit that they received at Salvation. (Gal. 5:25, Rom. 6:1-14, Rom. 10:9-13, Acts 2:21)

We believe that during the present age, the Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ by convicting the world of sin, regenerating sinners, and indwelling, guiding, instructing, and empowering believers for godly living and service. (Gal. 5:23-25, John 14:16-17,26, I Cor. 12:13)

We believe that at the end the Lord Jesus will come again and there will be a bodily resurrection of the dead. Believers will spend eternity with Christ, while unbelievers will face judgment and eternal separation from God. (I Thess. 4:13-18)
